Start with size (the 57-inch eye-level rule)
For most rooms, place the center of the artwork around 57 inches from the floor. Above furniture, keep 6-10 inches of space between furniture and the artwork.
For width, aim for 2/3 to 3/4 of the furniture width beneath the art. This creates a balanced look.
Choose art by room function
Different rooms need different energy and scale. Start with these room collections:
- Wall art for living room and the living room guide
- Wall art for kitchen and the kitchen guide
- Wall art for bedroom and the bedroom guide
Match style and colour to your interior
Pick one dominant direction: calm and tonal, or bold and contrasting. Repeat one or two colours from the room (rug, cushions, curtains) to make the artwork feel intentional.
Which material should you choose?
Material changes both look and function:
- Poster: versatile and budget-friendly
- Canvas: warm, timeless texture
- Acrylic glass: vibrant colour and depth
- Acoustic panel: decorative sound absorption for echoey rooms
Compare all options in our material guides: canvas, acrylic glass, framed poster, and acoustic panel.
